If a young child is accepted into the sponsorship program, a sponsor can support the sponsored child until they finish school or complete their vocational training. However, the list also includes young people who would like a sponsor for an apprenticeship so that they can learn a proper profession.
Organization of the sponsorship programme on site, we ensure that the children and trainees from the sponsorship program are in school and that the data is recorded correctly - i.e. that the children are in the appropriate grades. If a child graduates from school, e.g. completes primary school, we ask the sponsor whether they would like to continue with secondary school or vocational training, or alternatively look for a new sponsor. If a sponsored child has completed school or a vocational qualification and no further sponsorship is required, the sponsor will of course also be informed of this. A new sponsorship can then be taken up.
Contact with sponsored children in Uganda The sponsored children write letters to their sponsors and it is also possible to send a sponsored child a letter in English. During our on-site visit - usually once a year - sponsored children receive a so-called sponsorship gift, e.g. bed linen, new clothes or school supplies. This gives us personal contact with the sponsored children.
